Healthcare technology company joins Health Wildcatters’ third startup class to advance dermatology-focused telemedicine platform

AUSTIN – August 26, 2015 – md Portal, an Austin-based healthcare technology company, announced today that the company was accepted to the 2015 class of Health Wildcatters, a leading healthcare startup accelerator program located in Dallas. The company’s main product, MyDerm Portal, allows dermatology providers to offer convenient telemedicine visits to their patients for the most common skin issues.

The team will begin the 12-week, intensive program this month alongside nine other teams from around the country with companies that span the healthcare spectrum.

“We’re very excited to join the Health Wildcatter program and looking forward to engaging with their incredible field of healthcare experts,” said md Portal CEO and cofounder Paul Robichaux. “It represents a significant opportunity for us to learn from experienced entrepreneurs and to accelerate our business’s growth in the dermatology market.”

During the program, startups receive guidance from Health Wildcatters’ extensive network of investors and mentors. The program also provides access to office space and other strategic resources that help the companies grow.

md Portal applied to the program because of Health Wildcatters’ deep experience in healthcare specialty fields. The team was especially impressed with several of the program’s mentors who have been successful growing dermatology-focused businesses.

“md Portal is a perfect fit for the Health Wildcatters program,” said Dr. Hubert Zajicek, Health Wildcatters CEO. “Our network of mentors includes a number of experts in the dermatology field who are very excited to work with this team. Telemedicine is a rapidly growing area, so being able to tap into Health Wildcatters’ expertise in this field will certainly give md Portal a competitive advantage.”

Startups will focus on refining their pitches throughout the program, which culminates with a final “Pitch Day” in November. By focusing on the pitch, Health Wildcatters aims to set the teams up to successfully raise capital after the accelerator. They have been successful thus far, with the first two startup classes raising more than $10 million after participating in the program.
